I have a kershaw damascus skyline coming in the mail. I have no experience with damascus steel and was wondering if there is anything I need to know about or do to maintain it and keep it looking nice? Thanks

The Damascus used by Kershaw is some great stuff. It will take an extremely fine edge and sharpens easily, at that. I would suggest keeping a light coat of oil on the blade, though, or at least ensuring it stays very clean and dry. I've never had an issue with them personally, sans oil, but a couple I've given to friends show minor surface corrosion from a lesser degree of care. Overall, enjoy your new knife! I look forward to the pictures. :)

My favorite folder! I have not found the blade to be especially likely to rust - I put wax on mine. The dark patina probably helps.

The damascus is through and through, but the patina that makes it visible is just a surface reaction of black oxide. So use and polishes on the blade or it will lighten the patina.

Overall, amazing knife with an easy to keep sharp carbon steel blade.

Second on the wax!
You can use any floor wax or my fave is Automobile polishing wax. Rain Dance. Works great on the truck too!;)
