like the title says i want to know if anyone has tried to make a damascus style forced patina, i have a mora 612 which i would like to force a patina on and normally i dont do designs but i thought why not try this out.

now my original plan was to cut really thin pieces of duct tape or electricians tape and see if the adhesive that M3 uses is strong enough to repel water or vinegar for a couple hours or so but id like some input, also what other designs people would like to see, such as birds eye or raindrop etc

You could always take a toothpick and some mustard and do designs... BUT... it's not worth the time to me....

I owned a Bravo 2 for a very short while that the original owner had done a tiger stripe design with mustard. I think the toothpick idea ^ has some merit.

You can make interesting patterns if you apply the mustard with different things.

I got a nice on a cleaver by dabbing it with a bit of a steel wool dipped in mustard...ended up with lots of little fine lines.

My Izula. If you don't like how it turns out you can sand it and start over.

thanks guys for all the advice i didnt have any toothpicks so i had to whittle a qtip into one lol, but i somehow got a tiger stripe pattern on there which was pretty cool, not what i was looking for but still interesting, i think i might actually try again later with rice vinegar and a real toothpick, i hear it leaves a bluish patina and it will be solid lines instead of an outlined dealio
