I´m a Danish knifemaker and a great lover of damascus steel. Although we here in Scandinavia have some great damascus bladesmith, I´ve seen on the web, that there also in the USA are great damascusartits. I would be happy if some of you could help me with some suppliers of damascusblades, so that I can make a knife with very nice american damascus?

Hello Steen,

since you're in Scandanavia, by all means go to Damassteel:

http://www.damasteel.se/

They make really nice powder metal damascus. They also have an EXCELLENT powder metal ATS 34 equivilant called RWL 34 which is avaiable in abut 35 mm widths for knifemaking. This steel is better - finer grained - than Hitachi's product.

Damasteel also offers a great handbook on pattern welded steel, hardeneing and all their products which I'd rec. to every knifemaker.

best regards

I would also like to add Tim Zowada to the list. I feel he is worth checking out. I am not sure but I think he has a web site.
