Damascus thumbstud? How do I make one?

I have a number of thumbstuds and am working on my first folder. I would like a damascus thumbstud if possible, but have no idea how to make one. I assume i cut and file one out, but how do I tap it, thread it, and get it to work?

Here's what I do, first drill and tap the damascus bar the size to match the screw desired, Then I cut it out with my band saw, insert screw, using vise grips to hold the screw, grind off excess to shape I want. That's it.

So you basically tap the two sides, and use a threaded rod inbetween, or what?

Ahh,Bill I think TikTok wants an ambedextrious stud. Then yes TikTok,a very small "stud".Clearance drill the Blade.Tap drill both pieces of Damascus before carving while they are still easy to hold in a drilling vise,and of course tap first also.Loctite!!
