damascus vs 1095

hey folks, i have some what of a dumb question to ask, what is the toughness, edge retention, stain resistance and all that kind of stuff comparing a blade made of 1095 and a blade made from a damascus billet from say 1084 or 1095 and 15N20, is the damascus blade make an overall better blade or is damascus make a pretty good blade but more usually made for the actual look ie damascus blades are more a glass case knife???

You can make a good knife just from 15N20. I believe it is very similar to 1080 just with Nickel added.

Well made damascus should be very similar in performance to a mono-steel blade of similar steel.
The only thing on your list that it might be better on is stain resistance and that's only because the
damascus is more likely to be delivered etched.
