hi guys.. considering a wood inlay sebby, but as i understand they comes with polished blades. and from youtube polished blades seems to show scratches very well, as opposed to stone wash blade. bcos i plan on using the knife as an edc, should i be considering the Damascus blade option? but how does Damascus compare with s35vn steel, in terms of edge retention, ease of sharpening etc?

any thoughts?

thanx

This is something I would like to know as well.

On a side note, I have a large 21 W/ a "polished" blade - Although I think it's more of a bright satin finish than a polish. It has been surprisingly scratch resistant; I've put it through fairly hard everyday chore use over the last month - cardboard, wood, dirty rope, cutting plastic from metal parts, etc.. and it still looks like new.

I also have a SOG Arcitech with a highly polished blade - if you cut an apple with that one it looks like crap. It scratches incredibly easy.

As far as I know damascus is mainly for looks and does not really even compare to s35vn. For edc go s35vn everytime (if proformance is a concern), for collector damascus is a nice choice.

That's true of some damascus but not the sort CRK uses. To be clearer, I mean the properties of damascus might not have more than aesthetic appeal, but that doesn't mean the steel used is inadequate or inferior in any regard.

I would also go with the s35vn. Althought both ss and high carbon Damascus are very durable and hold an edge quite well, plenty enough for edc.
