Well this is third hidden tang and I really enjoy making these. I think I might try a takedown on my next one. Using the Wraught really made it much more difficult than If I had used a stainless guard. Live and learn I guess. Any criticisms I would love to hear, as I am always looking to improve my craft.

Love the overall look. I think that the blade needs to be a weee bit wider to fit the guard and handle size. Or the guard material needs to be thinner and the guard shorter. That's just my design concepts, as we all know there are no hard and fast rules.

Great job!

It's beautiful. I'm not sure that a stainless guard would look as good as what you have there.

Use a background that shows us the knife! I can hardly tell where damascus begins and wood leaves off!

I'm as guilty as many here when it comes to "failure to photograph" but that's not going to stop me from criticizing you! ;)

As for the knife, I like it just as it is myself, and I like your use of iron for guards. Don't give up on that! If you study the knives of the mid to late 19th you will find a lot of iron guards. I like old, so to me this looks great.

Now that you mention it, I agree the blade should be a bit wider to fit this guard/handle better.

I agree the stainless would not have looked near as good. I just need to come up with a system to keep the guard/wood together when shaping so that after etching the guard and during glue-up the guard/handle line up perfect. I think I might go with hidden 3/32 pins between the guard and handle next time to see if that helps. I had to keep massaging the handle back into line with the guard when glue-up on this one. It all worked out but there has to be a better way.

Your right, I love this backdrop on my stainless knives. But admit its less than perfect on Damascus.
Thanks everyone for the feedback and if anyone has any feedback on doing a wraught guard I am all ears.
