Needed to make a friend a gift that I wanted to be a bit different and this is what I came up with.

Damasteel "axe" with bronze "handle" and an Ironwood stand.
Length without cord is about 3" (75mm).

Now, I am not sure about the little braided leather cord on the end...
Any thoughts on that, should it stay or should it go?

Thats looks awsome. You do great work. My honest opinion is that the lanyard takes away from the piece. If it were mine Id take it off. Just my 2 cents.

Thats Very Cool...

Major Props.....

I kinda like the lanyard but I'd have to see a pic with and without. I thing that would be just about the coolest desktop item I have ever seen...bar none.

Thats kool. I think the lanyard would look better with something like a bead or little cube of damascus on the end.

That is a beautiful piece. I believe the scale (length and dia.) of the lanyard isn't matching the rest of the work, yet

Nice work!

Very unique gift and I sure it will be much appreciated.
Personally, I like the idea of a lanyard but don't like that particular one.
Looks too primitive for the rest of the piece.

Cool desk ornament!

I would remove the lanyard.

Kind regards,

Jos

This is just too cool!

I like the cord, but I agree with Peter about something additional at the end.
I do like the steel wire wrap near the end, but am not so sure about the wrap near the beginning (what is the material)? I think the same kind of wrap as near the end would perhaps fit better.

But in any case and without any changes - definitely cool!

I'd like it with the lanyard but maybe not that one. If it had a damascus piece on it as mentioned and maybe not so long. Say one or two damascus beads that might be pretty cool.

Thank you so much for your great feedback and kind words!

I kind of think that the lanyard looks a bit crude, but I am not 100% sure what else to do besides adding some kind of bead.
Then again it looks a lot "cleaner" without it too...

I might just let my friend decide what to do!

Thanks again!
