Did a long post and it timed out on me...:(

In summery

1. What type of Damasteel does CRK use? Specs?
2. Any pics in a Benza?
3. Impressions from users, pro's and con's V S30V and B+W Damascus.
4. What patterns are available?
Thanks!

Put it this way, I want to add a new blade to my large classic. This will be a daily user with low upkeep. Unlike my B+W model I don't want to be looking for rust every 5 mins!

Would you go for S30V or Damasteel? I have a BG-42 blade now.

Hey Wayne - I have never heard of Damasteel being offered as a blade option on Sebbies. I have only seen an oval Damasteel inlay on the handle of a custom Sebbie. Hope your leg is healing!

I'm not sure about how damasteel or carbon damascus compares to S30V, but I can share with you some excerpts from an email from Bridget at CRK. I wanted to get a damascus blade for my sebbie, but now I'm on the fence. I might just get a new sebbie....these things are horribly addicting. Anyways, I hope this helps:

1) I would need you to send the entire knife to us as we fit each blade to the handles. We would return all parts and original blade back to you along with the Damascus blade and its new parts.

2)We can re-sandblast the handles for you if you would like us too. Usually there is a $21.00 charge to do this, but we would include it in the price with the replacement Damascus blade.

3)Either Stainless Steel or the High Carbon Damascus would be great for edc. I have pretty much 50/50 response from my customers that use either one listed above. With the Stainless Steel Damascus the contrast of the etching is not very pretty. It is actually a very dull plain finish, but with the High Carbon Steel you get a very bright and brilliant finish!! The only down side with the High Carbon Steel is that it is made up of 1095 & Nickel – so if by chance there is some Nickel on the cutting edge you could dull it a lot faster then the Stainless Steel. ( I hope this is all making sense)

4)You can see pictures of the Ladder and Raindrop Damascus patterns at http://www.devinthomas.com Devin Thomas Damascus is what we use the most of. The blade style would be in the Classic profile.

5)We would not need payment until the knife is completed and ready to be shipped back to you.

Either way, it's a tough choice...hope that helps.

The Nickle and 1095 is why I went with the Double High Carbon Damascus in my Spriral blade, 1084 and L6 steel is much better as an edge holder!:)

Oh and the leg is much better!:D
