I recently worked with George Tichbourne on a project to make an everyday hiker for me. It was a gift to myself for reaching a goal I had been working very hard towards.
The knife I wanted was based on George’s California Whittler which is usually polished SS and cocobolo, stag or similar handle. For this one I wanted a damasteel blade, Mammoth Ivory Bark handle and a copper bolster.

As usual George has produced a real beauty that looks as good on a display shelf as it does in the field. Here’s a few pics…

In the beginning I got to select …

The outline, the damasteel, the mammoth bark.

The first time I saw the finished product, a good shot showing the Damasteel pattern nicely (thanks Carol).

I really like this knife...a lot! It's now my favourite knife and as I bought it to be used that’s what I’m doing. It feesl nice and hefty in the hand and sits there perfectly balanced.

This one is surely another masterpiece from my friend George.
