Snapped the tip off my RS the first time I used it. I was cutting some insulation and tape to get into some ductwork and I just gave a little push to separate the seam and I heard the pop. Pulled the knife out and there's about 1/32"-1/64" of the tip gone. It was only 28ga metal, nothing robust.

Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later I guess. I'm not mad as much as I am disappointed. I'm sure it would've happened with any blade, I just didn't expect SR101 to be so easily defeated.

And I didn't write this post to bash Busse. I really like the blade so far. It gets crazy sharp and is ridiculously comfortable. It just sucks when something like this happens the first time you use something. But, it doesn't affect the functionality so it's all good.

Sharpen it out and all will be well the factory edge seems to be more brittle and once you put a new edge on it I think you wll find that it is stronger metal underneath. Sr101 is great and I use it for extremely heavy use.

That's the plan. It just caught me off guard because I've used knives that shouldn't hold up for the same thing and not had a problem. I am impressed with how easy it is to get SR101 stupid sharp. A few swipes on a ceramic plate and it went from paper tearing dull to hair popping sharp.
 
Just like every serious boxer gets a broken nose, a serious knife gets a broken tip.
 
I do HVAC and this happens to every....single...one :(:( of my knives that I carry everyday at some point no matter how much I try to avoid it :oops::D When it happens I pretty much just tell myself what the other guys said, the edge is a bit brittle from the factory machine sharpening, and either way once you sharpen it out the new tip is minutely thicker and shouldn't break as easy.
