It was already a crappy day/week. I had a follow-up appt Monday after surgery, stemming from cutting my finger off (mostly) with a circular saw Jan 22nd, and my wife was driving me.
Before we left the house, I go to pick out a knife to throw in my pocket. I was gonna pick a 0770, which I don’t love, but then had the thought “I can’t carry a gun because of my stupid finger, I should carry something better”, so I grabbed a 940 with CF scales that my wife gave me. It’s my favorite knife, by far. Mostly for the sentimental value.

I get home hours later and realized my knife wasn’t clipped on my pocket anymore. Can’t find it anywhere. I called the doctors office multiple times and had secretary ladies checking the waiting area, the room I was in, the bathroom, etc. My hand is all messed up, and my truck is a manual, so driving is tough. I got a ride there and I checked the parking lot around where we parked. Nothin’

Checked all over the garage at home, crawling around with a bum hand. Nothing. My wife was now at work, but I had her check her car really well and it wasn’t in there either.

super bummed..

my only option was to go check my wife’s car again in the parking lot of her work. I can’t find it, and I’m about to give up when I flip the seatbelt around from the side of the seat to get a better look down along the seat…..bam. I got my pocket picked.…what a relief. Ever seen a knife get pulled out by a seatbelt?

anyways, I’m sure some of you can relate to my stress

it would have been really bad timing to lose my favorite knife.

The finger will heal but a lost knife is forever.. glad you found it! Just last month I thought I lost my favorite knife and after 3 frantic weeks finally found it in the car. Those beasts can get downright snatchy sometimes! Nice job on the finger, BTW..Yikes!

Damn man. While reading your search description anxiety definitely kicked in. Been there. But when you found it I was genuinely happy, over a strangers knife 🙄.Been tearing up alot during emotional tv shit. Think Im having a mid life crisis. Heal well Sir.

Graphic content warning!

Damn. Glad you found your knife. You'll have some new memories, and stories to tell, attached to it now. I just lost one and haven't found it after a few weeks. Probably gone for good. Hope you heal up good with minimal loss of function

Sharpen that nub up and you're on your way to being Wolverine.

JK, that looks sore. Heal up man!

And yah, I have had my pocket clip hook on all sorts of stuff. I have had my knife pulled out so many times, that I now kinda subconsciously tuck my folder in my pocket when I know I'm gonna be doing something that can snag it.

I've lost four, but eventually found two. Lost my Spyderco Gayle Bradley for a month, found it on a shelf in the kitty litter box room, under a bunch of supplies.

My SOG X-ray Vision mini went missing for several years, found it in my dad's SUV, wedged in between the back bench seat.

No idea what happened to my Dog Pentagon Elite it's been missing since 2006 and my Spyderco Dragonfly 2 went missing around 2016, probably lost when I moved.

The seat belt in my truck has done this 3 times but only with my PM2 with a lynch clips. Could just be coincidence or the PM2 with that clip sit just right for the seat belt to catch it easy.

Lost a bm morpho. I think the pocket clip hooked a side by side seat belt. After wandering around the hill for several hours a couple nights looking, I found it in someone else's back pocket over a month later. Luckily he gave it back. I meant to throw him 20$ for a finders fee but I never saw him when I had cash on me.

D-a-m-n! Lucky on both regards. Lost a Griptilian outside doing yard work once, found it a year later in working shape still

Yup, seat belt gets the clip and pulls it out if not strong tension on the clip, luckily just fell between the car door and the seat. Bent one clip so cannot clip it to my pocket anymore.

I've never had that happen with a seatbelt. Guess my legs are so dang long my knife is too far from the seatbelt.

That's the thing with pocket clips... they'll clip to pretty much anything. I don't use them anymore.

Heal well!

Glad you found your special 940! That finger looks painful, hope you feel better soon bro.

I'm glad you found your knife. Dang, I bet that finger hurts. I can relate to the stress from losing a knife. I thought I had lost my Cold Steel Scimitar a few years ago. I don't usually carry it, but decided to one evening. I did not clip it to my pocket, but just dropped it in there. When I got home. I changed clothes and when I hung my pants up, it fell out of my pocket into my shoe, but I did not notice it. I looked for it for several hours with no luck. A few days later I went to put those shoes on and there it was!

Losing a knife can be traumatic ...but losing your finger (or hand) is forever .

I'm happy for you finding your fav knife and not losing body parts . 😌
