Nothing keeps our friend Jack Black from doing his good deeds!
Despite a very painful back condition, he managed to package up some interesting goodies, and drag them off to the Post office, and ship them out!
This heavyweight tome carries endless pictures and descriptions of cutlery, including my favorites - folding types - dating back to pre-history, and extending up to fairly modern times!!

I can't recommend this book enough!!

Other interesting objects in this caring package include a Boker lapel pin, an ivory bookmark (perfect for a book such as above!),
A triskelion-adorned matchbook cover, an 1881 penny (my birth year! Jk! JK!) a wonderful, old, forged corkscrew, and a hilarious postcard (see text in further pic!)!

Thanks Jack, my friend! You've made this a wonderful day - I hope this portends relief for your back!

I haven't been here long but Ive been here long enough to know that you Can't say enough about Jacks generosity and willingness to help out "the new guy".

Absolutely. It's almost daily that someone notes how generous Jack (and other members) are to their fellow Knife Knuts. It's an infectious tendency that is not seen or shared enough outside the internet walls of this here Porch.

Thanks for sharing the tale of Jack's continued generosity, Charlie!
I hope you enjoy that treasure trove you received!

Kudos, Jack, for carrying on your kind and thoughtful largesse even during the misery of your sciatica!:)

Charlie,
That was very nice and generous of Jack to send You the gifts. I am sure
he knows You will take care of them for many years. You and Jack have
been knowledgeable and well respected figures in our community for quite
a while. It is pretty neat to have history and friendship passed back and forth,
even with that big pond in the middle. Thank You for sharing the photos.

Jack,
I hope You get to feeling better. ;)

You are a class act, Jack. I hope you are getting some rest and relief.

BTW, that post card is epic! :D

Very nicely put together package, every piece an enjoyment.

Jack has shown his generosity so many times we have all
Lost count, a true gentleman among gentlemen!

Jack
You are the master of thoughtfulness! Every piece is perfection. You have a mind like a steep trap for peoples wants and desires and collections. May your back get as strong as steel! That is one ifine cork screw for your collection Charlie. I hope we get to see it sometime. The triskelion-adorned matchbook cover is kicken:D:thumbup::thumbup:

Great gifts. Coincidentally, I'm heading to the Isle of Man next week. I'll be looking for knives while I'm there....

I'm very pleased the parcel arrived Charlie, I was certainly a pathetic sight taking it to the post office! :D I'm glad you're enjoying the book, I found it absolutely fascinating, and hoped you would too :)

Thank you for the very generous words everyone, you have me blushing :o I have been the recipient of a great deal of kindness here, not least from Charlie himself. I was much cheered to receive a package from him while suffering from my sciatica :)

This Ettrick-style Trevor Ablett Peach Pruner is an absolute peach, the nicest Ablett knife I've seen I think. As many of you know, Trevor sadly passed away last year, but Charlie managed to obtain a couple of his knives from some very nice people in Tasmania, and very kindly sent me one of them, it's travelled quite a way :)

The knife came wrapped in an Imperial knife roll, which also contained this splendid antique German corkscrew. Thanks so much Charlie, you're a great pal :)

I love reading this stuff.

Jack my friend- you are indeed a wonderful fellow- Charlie Sir- a most deserving recipient - and I just can't get over that Stunning Corkscrew.
I'm away from home right now in the land of Oz- so sitting back in a Hotel room reading Bladeforums on my phone. Great stuff 👍

Another great demonstration of generosity by both of you. The Ablett knife is beautiful. Love the corkscrews and the post card too. I hope you're feeling better Jack.

Thanks Duncan, I hope you get back to civilization soon! ;)

I was going to post a seperate thread, but this seems an opportune moment to thank Duncan - The Legend - for the very thoughtful care package he sent to me, and which arrived the other day :)

Duncan is the most incredibly generous person, and I have been the recipient of his kindness on manyoccasionss :) I was delighted to receive from him a Taylor's Eye Witness Lambsfoot, a George Wostenholm clasp knife, and a Christopher Johnson penknife!! :) :) Duncan also enclosed an old English cartwheel penny, which I originally gave him a few years ago in Sheffield - it must be nearly as well-travelled as the Ablett Peach Pruner! :)

Thanks pal, you a diamond! :) And a Legend of course! ;)

So, there's more to this tale than Charlie originally divulged; imagine that!
Looks like I can repost my original response, just interchanging the names:

Thanks for sharing the tale of Charlie's continued generosity, Jack!

I guess I could repost my comment one more time, with "Duncan" replacing "Charlie". Rather than actually doing the repost, I'll let all readers do that as a thought experiment! Well done, Duncan!

I could fill a thread with the knives Duncan and Charlie have gifted me! :)

Jack, Charlie and Duncan -:thumbup: You do know you'll never out give each other, right? Good show all around.
