This is a knife I'm working on made from my first (and so far, only) batch of damascus.

I started with this

Made this

Fitted up the bone spacer and oak handle

Shaped the handle and spacer (in between these, and the next photos I shaped the handle some more)

It's handrubbed to 600 grit, the handle is finished (I like how the oak turned black, but I sanded too much in some places, and have some brown wanting to peek through again, but when comparing the price of it to the price of ebony or african blackwood, I'm pretty happy)

You can see some small inclusions on this side, but they don't appear to affect the blade edge at all, so I'm not scrapping the knife

It's in the etch now, and I hope to glue it up tonight, then put in the ss pin. Then it should be about done! (except for the sheath)

Edit- dang it! I misspelled damascus on the title!

Prepped for etch (hows that pink nail polish look?)

To get strange looks from sister, request to borrow their "wild shine" nail polish

Post etch, kind of dissapointed by the etch after the HT compared to the etch before the HT. I did the same things, with the etch, but doesn't look the same. Oh well, still looks cool.

And for viewers interest, a rough sketch of an upcoming project...

Edited: sorry for the size of the first pic, photobucket isn't cooperating nicely.
