Greetings all. I'm not sure why, but I can't seem to have input paragraph breaks, so excuse the giant block of text. Spent last weekend at Dan Farr's hunting cabin along with Matt Gregory and my slingshot-shooting daughter. While there, I took delivery of this sweet stag hunter. About 4 1/2" of Cru Forge V, textured wooden spacer, carved ebony butt cap and engraved guard. Can't wait to put it to use this fall. This is the first completed piece of the series - the other is Dan's yet to be engraved personal knife.

This one is beautiful, all the more that I rarely have the opportunity to see

That's a great little knife Roger. I really like the textured spacer, its a nice subtle touch.

Congrats, Roger, great score !
I also like the deer track on the butt cap.

Dan truly makes an amazing hunting knife. Steel selection and heat treatment, blade geometry, handle ergonomics, and good looks all wrapped up into one neat little meat processing package. Hope you're able to give it some thick venison to work on this fall!

Very nice, Roger. Glad I didn't have to hand finish the blade on that one. :D

Don't be a wus Joe. :p I've finished out a Cru Forge V hunter blade and didn't find it posed too much of a challenge. The increased abrasion resistance was certainly noticeable, but on a blade this size it's no biggie. On a massive chopper - well - I might wimp out on something like that. Or else claim to embrace the virtues of a belt finish on a working knife. :D

There can be no wimping out.

; )

This one felt great in the hand, and with any luck there will be plenty of deer in deer camp this year to give it a workout. I'm not a huge fan of stag, but this one has the ergonomics nailed. As usual, Dan's attention to detail and thoughtfulness on all aspects of design, materials and handling shine through.

Always fun seeing Emily out in the woods racing around with the pups. Can't get over how tall she's gotten!!!!

Good spending time with you again, Rog - despite the Turkish prison temperatures and humidity. Next time I'm sleeping in the creek. : )

I really like Dan's eye for aesthetics. I would like to someday own one of his knives. Congratulations Roger.

The man can certainly make an outstanding hunter and a pleasure to see one.

Dan's hunters always get my attention. Love the stag and the proportions on this one. Congratulations, Roger--a very sweet piece.
