I tried to search but it tells my I don't have that permission or something like that. I just bought a Dan Harrison "The Solution" knife axe combination today in like new or new condition. I understand it is made by Alcas, it is numbered and signed on the butt. The grip rotates to expose an axe blade while covering the knife saw guthook blade. Anyone know how many were made and the current value? I would search these forums myself but as I said I am not authorized. I just joined today and maybe need to allow for everything to click.
Never the less anyone have any ideas- what's it worth. Missing a sheath, papers etc. Emailed Dan Harrison for a quote on a new sheath made by his lovely wife. Thought that might be a good thing. New guy Deadog

Welcome to Bladeforums. Your post will probably be answered better in Bernard Levine's Forum. Moderators may end up moving your thread to that sub forum. Lots of great info on BF.

cj65 Thanks. I found some info from a July 2008 Knife Forums post. And a linkhttp://cutlerscove.com/survival-knives/alcas-solution.htm
Alcas "The Solution" survival knife that was designed and made by legendary knifemaker Dan Harrison. Unlike many factory customs where the maker lends their name and some design input to the knife, Dan Harrison actually designed AND made these knives. This is an incredible knife that was Blade Magazine's "knife of the Year" in 1986. This is a widely recognized and highly acclaimed award that is among the highest honors that a knifemaker can achieve.

This is one of the most innovative and highly versatile survival knives ever designed. This example is in perfect condition and has never been used or sharpened, It's an exceptionally well made and heavy-duty knife. Even the sheath was desinged as part of the system and is multi-functional. The knife weighs in at a hefty 1 pound, 9 ounces, yet the balance in both modes of operation is outstanding. The knife was crafted from 1095 tool steel and hardened to 54-56 RC. The steel finish is Parkerized to prevent rust and corrosion. The thick blade was beautifully ground and features a menacing cross-cut saw on the spine. It was also designed with a razor-sharp guthook and a waterproof steel storage tube is incorporated into the handle. The axe feature of the knife is basically just a handle twist away from operation. It locks solidly in place and the heavy steel handle/storage tube provides all of the weight behind the axe head. The hinge pin is a 1/4" diameter, hardened steel pin. The handle for the axe configuration is of Zytel which is an ultra tough composite material. The handle while in the knife configuration is the steel tube and it features a knurled sure grip finish.

Everything about this knife is heavy-duty. This knife was meant to be used in the toughest of conditions and was built to withstand heavy use in survival situations. I still am curious if I paid more than a reasonable price? From someone other than my wife :(

I checked on this knife approximately 3 years ago for a friend that has one. I found 2 for sale on E-bay for 150.00 to 200.00 range. Another never been used like new one was was sold for 400.00.
