Here is the original design on paper and the finished product below.

Cool, Danny! We got to handle that and the wonderful horizontal sheath at the HI MW KK 04. He does do good work. That skinner matches like it was made with the bowie!

I got a unique knife from Pen as well (Kris Kringle:D), making a wood scabbard to match the handle.

Danny, to add to your thread, I'd say that Dan does Excellent Work!.... ;)
At the MWKK I had the opportunity to look at quite a few of his
creations and was highly impressed...

Danny...I was wondering why you had it set up for both being right handed draws. Considering that you know how to use use them, I'd have considered having the Bowie positioned as you have it (being the heavier weapon for the strong hand), but *reversing* the auxilary blade for left hand draw...either for simultaneous use, or if your dominant hand is um... busy or otherwise unavailable.

I'm guessing that you know best (a pretty safe bet), but it's an option *I* certainly would have considered.

Honestly, I didnt plan this as a weapon set, but as a survival set like the tom Brown Tracker set by TOPS.
Thats some good tactical thinking Nasty.
I did think of it, but I was thinking about skinning a deer at the time, not fighting.
Im gonna dye it dark brown and wax it and then ill send my pics.

I was thinking along the lines of (when confronted in a knifefight) drawing the smaller of the two left handed and saying "That's not a knife", drawing the othe and saying "That's a knife!"

Then I can just walk away when the bad guys take off... ;)

Does he make swords too? How can I contact him?

I guess if you can find a file that size. :)

His e-mail is listed, I think.

Shane Justice posted a couple of pics of larger blades a month or two ago.

I only work with cardboard.

Yep, Dan does great work. Awhile back I shipped him my HI JKM and he put a lovely convex edge on it + reshaped the tip to a sharp point. This JKM is the utility knife I carry around everyday in my backpack now...

Danny, have you looked at the Becker BK-5 ("Magnum Camper")? It's the big (8.25" blade) brother of your new "baby" and was designed by Fisk with Becker's input. Many feel its upswept blade is the best Becker of them all, and Becker was (is) quite a MA.

Tom

it does look interesting.
Dan, can you change out handles on the becker to make it oart of the family ?

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Sorry I didn't get to this thread until now...been kinda busy...:D

Lion's Roar - yep. short swords from 10 and 12 inch files...:D....shoot me an email if interested.

Dhuff - glad to hear it's getting some use. I think of that one often. Don't let Nasty know...that would have been the icing on the cake for his lil' JKM.

DIJ - Re: handle change out - you could probably do it. It's easy enough. But it won't be "factory fresh" when I'm done with it...

christcl - shoot me an email. I am still doing convex edges for khuks.

Dan,

Do you take any orders for putting a good convex edge on a khukuri?
Welcome to the Cantina, christcl!

I noticed this was your first post. Dan the Man will fix you right up! :)

Be advised of a potential problem though...

Pen can't be responsible for any cuts you may incur! ;-)

"Ya haven't told us anything we didn't already know."

I'll drink (as much as I'm able, dammit) to that.

That's right, Nasty. I can't even be responsible for the cuts I untentionally inflict on myself either!

I still have band-aids on 2 fingers....

I think christcl has posted before...are you the student at UCI, christcl?
