I'm not for certain with the 744 specifically, but I purchased a DW 357CTG last weekend for 325 $ and felt like I got a decent deal. As a whole most of the Dan Wesson revolvers tend to be under 400 dollars most places. They are fine revolvers, that are quite accurate from what I understand, but lack the collectible nature of the S&W's and Colts. They also can swap barrels pretty easily and form what I gather the revolvers featuring several different barrels in a set command a premium.
