I get this question probably at least once a week...
So, let me take a minute to explain.
Yes, I will sharpen other makers' knives. $5 + return shipping.
Yes, I will gladly regrind a knife. Price varies on the size of the knife and how much regrind it needs...anywhere from $10 for a small knife, to $35 for a large kukri.
Yes, I will also gladly make new kydex sheaths for any knives under 12 inches in length. Price is $20-$45 (depending on size/complexity) and you'll need to ship me the knife - unless I already have one.
Yes, I will gladly refurbish/clean-up/etc. old knives. I have experience restoring antiques and do so very carefully. I can return an old knife to "user status"....as easily as I can refurbish an antique to make it "museum ready". Pricing is $20-45, depending on work needed.
No, I am not offering rehandle work anymore. I find I end up putting these projects on the backburner, resulting in disappointed customers. So, it's best for me to just not offer it anymore.
No, I generally don't do "pimping" of knives...there are many others who can...let me know if you need some names.
And, of course, all my knives have a lifetime guarantee...regardless of who originally purchased it. If it breaks under normal use, I'll do my best to repair or replace it. If you need it reground, resharpened or refinished in any way, send it back and cover return shipping. The work is FREE.
Hope this helps explain my situation and gives you guys some info on the goings-on regarding Koster Knives.
Thanks!
Dan
