Just got back from the ER last night and spending all day at the VA. I haven't spoken with a neurologist yet, but it seems like 30 isn't too old to get epilepsy...

I'm really tired and I'll post some more in the morning, but Sunday night I went in to convulsions, was scared, confused out of my mind, didn't recognize anyone and apparently tried to pull my MBC on my girl's momma's boyfriend. The first thing I remember about the whole incident is laying on the ground, looking up at the paramedics.

Anyway, I need some good rest, it's 10:30 here and I've not slept well, more to come...

Whoa man sounds like a scary scenario. Hope you feel better soon and I'll keep ya in my prayers.

That would be scary. It's a good thing you weren't home alone when it happened

If I didn't know better I would say low sugar issue with diabetes. Best of luck!

Sorry to hear Dan. A cloud of smoke and a halo of prayers to get you back on your feet. Healthy as new:thumbup:

It is always scary when something happens to you. Take deep breaths and relax your mind. try to stress as little as possible until you know more.

That sounds scary, I'm glad it was over before any permanent damage. Get some rest and schedule a follow up visit.

Thanks for the smoke everyone

For the last 1.5-2 years I've been getting these really odd, almost overwhelming, senses of impending doom mixed with the strongest deja-vu I've ever felt. Often times I'll also get an odd chemical smell that no one else will. These are called "auras" and are a classic symptom of epileptic seizures :(

The VA is starting me on medication and I have an appointment with the neurologist there on the 23rd where they'll hook me up to an EEG and try to induce a seizure... sounds fun ;) I need to be on the pills for a couple of weeks for them to start working, so I guess it's better not to follow up with the neurologist right away, see if it gets better before he reports me to the dmv...

The doc told me that of the different types of seizures that these are the most treatable with medication or surgery (brain surgery, keeps getting better) so that's good I guess. The doc said if it happens again they'll have to report it to the dmv, but if, after 6 months of no episodes while being on medication, I can get my license back.

I can't help but think this is what caused my accident in April, I don't remember the crash...

Goodness me!!! That's scary stuff man! Hope you can get it sorted. Positive vibes from Oz mate :)

Very scary. I feel bad for you. I've known a few serious epileptics, including an employee who took it way too casually, and a neighbor who was almost incapable of going out by himself.

Most fall into a treatable class. Even my neighbor could control it with the right medication.

You've got my prayers along with everyone else's. Be cool, go with the doctor's recommendations, and let's see you getting this squared away in a few months.

Prayers are with you, Dan. My closest friend has been living with epilepsy for many years now with the right concoction of meds. Keep us posted.

My prayers are with you Dan I'm sure it's really scary but I'm sure you'll pull through fine. Did you checkout any natural causes for epilepsy? Here's a link I pulled with a quick google search: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400577/Natural-Treatment-for-Seizures.html . I know the meds we have now are great at quick fixes but sometimes it's good to look at long term at holistic natural remedies. At least it can't hurt.

Best of luck to you keep us posted.

Sorry to hear, man...but very glad that there's options available. Positive thoughts & smoke rising for ya and I hope that these options will be solutions ASAP.

Wow! Best wishes for a successful resolution. Medical advancements keep coming. Seek out the best.
