Dang, I need another one…

So I was sitting around “working” today and somehow ended up using my case sodbuster junior as a scoop for my smoothie (trying to be more healthy and such). It’s a worn red bone sodubuster with cracked scales and a poorly set shield but I love it and I could not help but think that dang I need another one of these. So if I’m not overstepping another thread. What’s a knife that snuck up on you and told you, you needed another?

"A" knife"? ... As in just ONE?!? 😳

Just them I gived into the temptation ... (yeah. I know I'm weak ...) 😕😔
stockman ... canoe ... barlow ... moose ... sunfish ... 110 ... 6OT/7OT ... Mora #1 ... Opinel n' MAM friction folders ... SAK's n' Scouts ...

There are others that are calling to me (in addition to more of the above mentioned) but so far I have managed to resist their siren song ... The Higonokami (Higo no Kami?) (with "blue paper steel") for example, has been singing so long, I fear I will finally give in and take the plunge next month. 😳🙄😁👍

There are a couple others I "need" a first and/or duplicate of, of course ...
"Celtic"/"Viking" knives, (a first 17~18 inch OAL Seax is high on my list, So's a couple more rustic forged knives by Toferner (and possibly "Viking Brand".)
A real Sgian Dubh with a carbon steel blade ("just like (maternal 10th great grandfather) had") ... a couple made in Sheffield with stag grips are calling ... but at over $100 ... it is a little easier to resist their song n' dance ... I suspect the Ancestors had something a bit less fancy. I'll probably end up with a SZCO damascus Sgian Dubh. ("Fancy" perhaps ... but 10+ generations ago, was it "uncommon" for the local black smythe to forge layered/"damascus" blades?)
I are not sure what the kilt wearing (Paternal) Welsh ancestors had for personal "every day" cutlery.

I might "bite the bullet" and save up half or so of what's left after rent for a "few" months, and order a Seax (and possibly a new kilt er two, and a better/nicer/larger Sporran) for my "Christmas present" this (and next) year.

This isn't quite on point, but I have the stainless version of the Lynx Lumberjack allegedly arriving today (I'm afraid they won't make it, but tomorrow is fine, too).

Looks like I forgot the macro button again.

I have lots of examples of the same knife with different covers, but the only one I have an exact duplicate of is my EDC Evolution Grip 14.
I literally carry it every day, the only knife I can say that of, and couldn't bear to think of life without it.

Now the same knife (same frame and same blade combo) with different covers . . . I have 53 different #53 Cuban Stockman knives; good symmetry!

For me it would definitely be the muskrat. The first one I saw, a Rough Rider (shown below), I thought was a really silly pattern. Two identical blades? Weird! But I bought it just out of curiosity ($12, why not?) Then it started to appeal to me. Four Case muskrats and one S&M Hawbaker muskrat later, I now have six of them.

Jeff, does Victorinox use the same steel in these modern knives as in their regular ones?

I reckon trappers and stockmans are the knives I could always use another of. Love my Opinel, but don't feel the need to get another one--unless it breaks or gets lost, of course.

There's always room for more inside....

Got a couple of duplicate Winchester Black-Boxes, but not the Stockman which is used the most.

Two Forum-Knives that I'm really keen on the 18 Buck & the 20 Viper, there are back-ups in case of loss . One was won in a GAW by nomination and the other a staggeringly kind act of altruism by a Forumite 😍

Some knife enthusiasts are stricken with FOMO but my affliction is FOLI Fear Of Losing It 😖 hence the need for duplicates.

Opinels always reward, they're all the same you say, uh-uh they take on character or get mods plus they have many sizes, woods, blades and really like how effective they are. Just one more ?

I believe they do, Vince, at least they feel the same in use and sharpening to me. I've seen the steel reported as both 1.4116 Inox, and 12C27M razor blade steel. It gets super sharp but doesn't hold it for very long compared to GEC's 440C.

I have a weakness for single blade one arm razors. I bought the first one from RR and found that I liked a one handed open slip joint. I dont think it would be healthy to go count them now but 3 are even the same bear and sons pattern. It's a sickness.

That applies to me as well, in regards to my sanity as well as my favorite knife.

My original one from circa 1990 was stolen, and I broke another one. They can be very hard to find, so whenever they popped up on the Bay for 15-25 bucks or thereabouts, I would get one.

I just checked and they are available now, but the new ones have stainless steel blades :( (despite being listed as carbon on the Bay), and I think I have enough…

Edit: Lasher Tools in South Africa is the new owner of the brand. Their catalog specifies stainless steel, and also I got one ( not shown above), so I’m sure.

For some reason, I needed three Okapi Biltongs. Yep, I still need them.

Long ago, I developed an affinity for the RR Improved Muskrat, so I laid in a couple of extras. One became a gift to a favored step-daughter, the other remains as a spare. Good thing, too, as they aren’t making them any more. Another lister made me a gift of a Queen Hawbaker, so I have one more of the pattern, which has become a favorite carry.

Tried the short Peltonen Sissipuukko, liking it so much I had to have the longer but otherwise identical M95.

Something similar happened when I found an Anza Dune Field at a price I could tolerate. I liked it so much I hunted down a bargain on the larger Dune Slayer.

Moras, Opinels, there is always room for more of those..
