  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

The first time was with my BK11... I was trying to shave the burr off of a piece of PVC I had just cut to length with a pipe cutter. The next thing I knew I had shaved the top of my knuckle off of my left index finger. I didn't post pictures at the time because I was too busy BUT.... Today... I did it again....
This time I was stripping my new BK9, and while wiping the blade off with some wd40, I must have fell asleep at the wheel.

I call this one: "Waiting for the bleeding to stop"

Dang man, at least I'm not the only one who cuts themselves while modifying my knives, but I don't know how WD40 will affect your body if you got it in the cut....

And please tell me you never had formal first aid training, only because the way you have that wrapped, while it works is over kill on the tape and the paper towel, which [the paper towel] isn't a very good way to soak up blood when it's randomly crumpled like that, folded it would absorb more without it running as much.

I apologize if I sound like a inconsiderate snob with my first aid comment, I just hate it when all these Boy Scouts I meet with the first aid merit badge don't know the difference between medical tape and masking tape, or between a sling and a splint, or how to stop bleed or clean a(n) wound/injury...

Damn. Time to fight back. Wheres the dremel? We'll teach those bastids a thing or two

You've got to feed them enough wood, or they'll go for blood every time.

What are you talking about? I'm a trauma surgeon over at the local ER. Haha not! If I wasn't planning on changing it in 2.5 minutes I would have done a better job.

Well, that makes more sense, if you had said that to begin with I wouldn't have said anything, I thought you just took it off for the picture, didn't know you were gonna actually change it, but you still wasted tape.

Tape is cheap. A picture is worth 1000 strips of bacon.

Thanks for the heads up.

you Shackelfords must be accident prone. my girls last name is Shackelford and if i give her a sharp knife for cutting up some veggies for supper, she looks like one of those self-mutilating types when shes done :D

I think you did fine considering it looks like you had to bandage your right hand with your left and apply the tape with your teeth... I probably would have applied direct pressure using my armpit... Wonder if there's a community college night class on suturing 101?

If you apply smoothly folded paper towels to a bloody wound it ends up sticking to the wound and you get a crapload of nasty paper towel fuss in your cut and all around it. Crinkled paper towels however do that WAY less.
I have done a few paper towel electrical tape repairs on myself a time or three..lol
