Was polishing the brass on some of my user 110's this morning. Was closing a 2 dot after wiping down the blade and it got away from me as it was closing. Felt like it just barely caught the tip of my index finger but was relieved when I didn't see any blood. The relief was short lived because as soon as I wiggled my finger here came the red.

Reminded me of the movies where the guy swings his sword and his foe just stands there like he missed then a body part falls away. Didn't loose anything but I do keep'em sharp. Next time I'll make sure I don't have any mineral oil on my hands. Nothing a bandaid didn't cure but it's a reminder to be careful all the same.

Sorry for your loss of claret. All too familiar. There is usually some remedy as you can see here if you watch this short but ghastly video:

I gotta laugh OP........I did the same thing on Thursday. I was fondling my 110 in my truck, and the blade closed on my finger like a guillotine. I wasn't even watching. Nice little slice that was a pretty good bleeder. Its all good.

Amazing how fast that occurs isn't it. Even after all these years, my wife enjoys needling me by not saying anything when she walks by me messing with a knife, but just lays a band-aid down next to me. Then I'll hear her chuckle from the other room when I loudly curse a few minutes later.

I keep my first aid in a cabinet by a sink and within reach "one handed". Also Band Aids in my wallet, fishing vest and the glove box in my vehicle. I don't do it often, but often enough.

My father in law took me 30 years ago to his favorite sporting goods store that "sharpened up " your knife to a thin razor edge that chipped when you cut paper. When I closed it the first time I cut the very tip off the ring finger on my right hand. For weeks after I had trouble picking up or holding anything because it hurt so bad when I touched anything. Yes I carry a bandage or 4 in my wallet too.
