LONDON — A retail chain says it has pulled jackets sold with a pocket knife from it stores in Britain.

T.K. Maxx says it removed the coats after learning that a knife attached by a chain was included in the purchase.

The retailer said Friday it was unaware the coat included the promotional gift. The coat is made by Strellson Swiss Cross.

Britain has seen a recent spate of knife attacks. Last year, a T.K. Maxx assistant was stabbed to death at work in a store north of London.

The retail store is owned by Massachusetts-based TJX Companies Inc., which also owns U.S.-based chains T.J. Maxx and Marshalls.

A recent spate of knife attacks lasting the last X centuries.

The knife featured a 2 1/2" inch non-locking blade, and was perfectly legal to carry. This has been a hysterically stupid affair IMO.

What WAS stupid was that the retailer DIDN'T KNOW they had knives in them.

What is stupid is this is all over a 2-1/2" non-locking folding knife. Good grief

Of course, the same retail chain that pulled the jackets wouldn't have done anything, had, say, a hammer or baseball bat been included with them instead.
