Well I dipped my toe a couple weeks ago when I got a White River M1 Pro thanks to great help here, but unfortunately that set me down a rabbit hole. I’m now waiting for a Guardian 4.5 to show up, AND I caved and bought this little fixed blade… MKM Mikro 1. Beautiful little knife and feels surprisingly secure in hand. Thing is so small it almost feels awkward picking it up off the table.

Still trying to warm up to the magnetic holster though, will have to give the kydex option a try. Not sure it will knock the bugout out of my jeans pocket yet, but it stands a very good chance of getting dropped into my cargo shorts. I’m gradually realizing I prefer fixed blade due to an irrational distrust of folding knives, despite being fully aware I’m extremely unlikely to ever push one hard enough to break.

I’ll I have to sell a few knives to balance things out now.

I feel you. I went from thinking EDC fixed blades were inconvenient and didn't make much sense for me to carrying one almost every day. The real poison was when I got a fantastic custom sheath from Horsewright Horsewright for the White River Sendero Classic I had drooled over for years. Now that knife very, very rarely leaves my belt.

Awesome knife. Looks like the handle really locks itself into your grip nicely. I, too, generally dislike folders. I have pushed some (including some fairly high end “hard use” designs) to their failure point. Between inherent lack of durability and the annoyance of cleaning them compared to fixed blades, I stick with fixed.

Thanks, I’ll have to check those sheaths out!

Thanks! Yeah it really does comfortably lock in, better than I expected. Now I need to go attack some Amazon boxes with it.

The MKM Mikros are among the very few knives with blades under 2 inches that I carry. The handles feel more secure in my hand than a lot of larger knives. The sheaths have been excellent so far, but I am concerned that the magnets will eventually lose their strength like the Bark River magnetic sheaths do.

Doesn't Bark River have, errrrm, a very broad range of quality issues, to put it mildly and courteously?

So I have read. But the only one I have personal experience with was that the magnetic sheath for their neck knife that I bought had zero retention out of the box. The replacement was the same. I emailed Bark River about the warranty. Much later (maybe 6 months) they replied saying that the sheath was indeed covered by the warranty. But by that time I had already returned both knives.
