Danish oil and Ballistol, a question.

I don't have any experience with Ballistol so am totally in the dark.

Has anyone had any ill effects of getting Ballistol on Danish oil sealed handles?

I ask because Ballistol is apparently a solvent as well as sealer? If gotten onto another sealer such as Danish oil, does it strip it or cause any other problems.

How well does Ballistol work in all its sundry roles anyway? Yes- I know that opens this wide up to personal opinion!

I only have two suppliers in my state, neither near me, and I wonder if I should bother getting any if it doesn't live up to the hype of the all purpose product.

I haven't had any problems between Ballistol and Danish oil. I would give the Danish oil a few days to cure completely before mixing the two, just to be safe.

Ballistol is seldom the absolute best choice for any one given task but it seems to be very good (or at least acceptable) for a lot of tasks. That and its lack of toxicity are its real advantages.

I often wonder if there is anything Ballistol CANT do....but I am a huge fan of it because like Dave said it might not be #1 at anything but it is #2 at everything IMHO.

I've tried it as well. It tastes terrible, but not as bad as CLP.

(WTF is Ballistol doing at SATC?)

As some point or other, I have put Ballistol on just about every type of tool-related surface and have yet to notice any detrimental effects. The great thing about it is if you are heading out into the woods, you only have to take one bottle of "goop" with you.

The stuff I really like is the aerosol version. You can hose down every squeeky hinge in your domicile without fielding criticisms from your "staff" about polluting the facility (it is food-safe).

Horn-handled khuks are generally not my first choice, but I have a few. These handles usually require occasional "gooping up" to keep them from cracking, etc. Ballistol works for this and it is what I use. Alot of folks use Hooflex, but the smell of that stuff is a thing I cannot abide. Ballistol smells a whole lot better.

Well,
I called and talk to them and they sent me two boxes of lub one spray and one liquid. And it is alot better than CLP. Trying to con command to using insted of CLP.:D
