Been wearing Danner 6" Workman steel toes for the last 8 months, and I am sold. Have worn them working maintenance 12 hour shifts mostly on concrete flooring, and daily every day wear as well. Have worn them while standing in up to 4" water for hours, and my feet stayed dry.

Have had many pairs of Wolverine Dura-Shock soles crack completely in half before within 8 months, and they always seems to have at least small leaks, even after waterproofing the seems.

Danner is definitely a winner, and I have bought my last pair of Dura-Shocks, ever.

Glad you like yours. I could never get a pair to fit. I have had a pair of Whites lace up packers now for 3.5 years. Had to get the heals replaced once. My all time favorite is Scarpas, I have a pair that I fainally wore the soles out at 10 years. Looking to get them rebuilt if possible.

I've been wearing Acadias (uninsulated in warm weather, 200g in cold) as duty boots for over two years. They're excellent, if a bit heavy.

Waterproofing has never been an issue with the Danners, though if I know I'm going to be in wet conditions, as in a cross country deal, crossing streams and the like, or on a beach, I go with jungle boots. Waterproofing only works if the water isn't over the boot tops!

You ever try Redwing? I have had my 6 inch boot for 4 years now and they are completely water proof. i'm in them al the time. they are worht the money.

I looked at several pairs of Red Wings, but the price was a good bit higher than Danner.
I also did not care for the availability, which was limited to "red wing stores", as I prefer to buy on-line.

They do have some nice boots though.

Danners are nice but I hate goretex. Are there any boots with replaceable soles that don't have goretex?
