Hello Everyone,

This is the sword I am making as a gift to a friend. Of course, he has no idea, and doesn't haunt the forum.

I like the way this came out, but I can already see things I will do differently next time. Seems like it is always that way.

32.85" overall length
23" blade
1.9 lb
handle, guard, cap, washers = 9.85"
1.46" wide @ guard, 1.31" before dive to tip.
.31" thick at ridge
w2 steel, hamon
brass and copper with liver of sulphur patina
birdseye maple, aqua fortis, tung oil finish handle

I would like to thank Alan Longmire for telling me (writing) about Aqua Fortis and oil on maple. This finish is really something to see. It is so much better than modern stains. Thanks Alan!

Hope you like. Comments welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Very pleasant lines and proportions. I will be back to visit these pics often. I see we have the same interior decorator... WD-40 also makes a great centerpiece in the dining room! The empty 1 gallon cans can hold 2 dozen roses.

Rick - you are killing me - yes WD 40 and tung oil. You have to rub with coarse paper towel or cloth and then re-oil the handle every day for a couple of weeks to really get the translucent look. So, these just stay downstairs.

thanks for the nice words, though.
