What would be the max amount of time anyone would leave there darex running while using it. I can't freehand sharpen and hold the power button. I don't want to overheat the motor.

Standard or Ken Onion version? I believe that Darex recommends 20 minute intervals for the standard and continuous capability for the KO.

I've used my WSKO quite a bit freehand with the trigger locked. I usually run at speed 7 out of 14, though sometimes I go as high as 9 or 10. I haven't graduated to full speed yet. I've kept the trigger locked on for as long as maybe 10 minutes solid... maybe a little bit more? Sometimes I've had it on for 10 minutes, then off for 60 seconds, and back on again for another 5 minutes or so. At first I was concerned about it and was touching the motor housing to see if it was getting hot. I've never felt it more than about skin temperature; never even "warm". So I'm pretty sure what I've done with it is light duty as far as the motor is concerned.

I remembered someone in a thread here saying that the bottom of the WSKO says it's rated for 60 minutes of run time. Google found the post for me.

I interpret that marking to mean "run for no more than 60 minutes continuously and then let the motor cool to room temperature before continuing". Again, that's just my interpretation.

If your usage of the WSKO (or WS regular) is anything like mine, I don't think you'll have any hint of a problem with the motor. If you want to see how I do it, take a look at the video I made.
