Not for sale or trade, just showing off...

I was stripping & patina-ing my Camp Tramp with synthetic vinegar a handful of years ago, and I forgot about it and left it in the jar for about a week and this happened...I have grown to love it. Each time I give it a touch up vinegar bath its coming out darker now. You can see what I reckon is the temper line from that differential hardening I heard these got.

I also reshaped the Res-c a bit in the finger guard area with an x-acto knife and a roll of sandpaper for more comfortable (for me) choking up on the blade. Butt of handle also chewed by puppy for extra credit.

I wouldn't trade 'er for a brand new one...one of the best knives ever.

Daaaaang! That DOES look cool.
Did it pit it deeply? Or are those even pits?

Will glacial (99%) acetic acid have any effect on micarta or g10 scales or just patina the steel?

It did pit relatively deeply in certain places, but not so much that I'm concerned about the integrity of the knife at all. Fantastic blade geometry on these Camp Tramps with the wide blade, thick at the spine but pretty darn thin behind the edge.

The knife still had some of the black coating on it when I stripped it and those are the spots that are still flat.

Well I am inspired, I ordered glacial acetic acid and will force a patina on a couple different blades. I have done a tomahawk head before with regular vinegar and it turned out great.
