Dark Wood? (Bocote)

So I recently acquired a small sebbie with bocote inlays. Great knife and everything's up to specs. I did notice some other examples online show the knife with much brighter wood, such as this picture from knifeart: http://www.knifeart.com/chrisreeve9.html My sebenza, on the other hand, looks like this: http://imgur.com/t2MkqBK . Is it the cut of the wood itself or just something that happens overtime?

Bocote differs in color.

When I got mine, I chose from maybe 2 or 3 different bocote they had on hand.



Has not changed color since I've had it. I say 16 months.

All natural wood differs in colors. Just enjoy the natural beauty or stick with synthetic materials, they mostly are uniform in color.
