After waiting over a month for a new Rugged Huadoo IP68 phone, I finally get it today. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the average smartphone, but I appreciate it's simplicity and ease of use and the quality of voice calling is superior. Plus, it's got a dedicated flashlight button! Now, less than 2 hours after receiving it and setting it up, I get a text from AT&T telling me that due to network upgrades my phone and all 2G only devices will no longer function after December 26. I know, you're gonna say that I should just get a smartphone and deal with it. However, I'm stubborn an getting increasingly crotchety mdespite being only 42. Plus, I'm responsible for a few older relatives phones and it's taken a long time to find the perfect, simple phone for them.

Rant over, thanks for listening

i love my 22$ flip phone! Actually, I hate it, just slightly less than smartphones...

I never wanted a smart phone but a few months ago I did get one.
I don't use all the bells, whisles and other nonsence but I do like some advandages it has over my old phone
Forget Apple, they look cool but arn't as user friendly as a simple Android

Personally love my iPhone 4, took the place of a wrist watch, plenty of music, camera, note pad, calculator, and every once in a blue moon I take if off airplane mode and actually make a call. In general I hate cell phones with a passion, but they can be useful at times.

My first cell phone was a Nokia brick, loved that thing, analog, had a speed dial listings, time and date and that was pretty much it. Had it 7 years then had to upgrade because the towers were all going digital. I'm only 42 and getting pretty crotchety myself.

I had to go to a smart phone from my old flip phone. It was one of those things where I didn't know I needed it until I had it. The ability to monitor emails, receive texts and keep an eye on certain threads of interest etc from my phone has unbundled me from my computer. I don't run many apps but the weather app and weather radar is handy as is voice to text and the ability to google something any time anywhere. If I'm having trouble spelling a word (I'm profoundly retarded) I can just speak it into my phone and there it is. If you're in the field and need a ballistics calculator, there's an app for that. Speed and Feed calculator, ditto. Traffic jam on the interstate and need an alternate route, ditto. You can look at your location on a satellite map and get a feel for your surroundings or see where you are relative to the building entrance etc. I'd never want to go back to a flip phone.

I was a hold out with just wanting a damn phone too. I'm 57 and getting grumpier by the day.;)

My wife & I purchased Iphones 5's last spring and I do enjoy have Google Maps GPS for all of the driving I do for my sharpening accounts and having a calander, emails, texting, Blah Blah

. I probably only use about 5-10% of the stuff it can do, but that part has made life a bit more organized and I don't write as many notes on my left hand anymore!:D

I just got one last year(30 years old) after being made fun of for years because I had a 6 year old flip phone. The only reason I got one was because i wanted to be able to take pictures of my two little boys. I will add that the ballistics calculator is nice though.I still have my flip phone and keep threatening to switch back to it.

I've tried a couple of these. They're OK, but the reception is horrible. Actually the Lenovo a588t has OK reception, but is too darn big. The Otium is smaller, but worse reception. Then again, all the major providers have horrible reception in Iowa. It's OK downtown, but the suburbs where I live are spotty at best.
