Just what the heck did I step into here? All I did was stop by our local pawnshop (I've developed a semi-relationship with the proprietors) to say "Merry Christmas".

I hadn't been in for a while, I usually try to go in every so often, you never know what will come in.

I'm more of a fixed blade guy, but I have recently become enamored of slipjoints (second childhood?), having received a nice stag J. Lloyd in a trade with a member here.

As I walk by a case, I notice a large cased limited Case knife collection (so-so) and a smaller case with a bunch of Case knives. Well, the smaller batch just appealed to me and I asked to take a look.

I'm not super familiar with all the model styles, I just kinda picked out the ones I liked. They've all obviously seen some use and pocket time, but they're not trashed and I like that used look anyway.

They're all marked the same, 1993, and I'm not familiar with these particular bone scales (burnt white bone?) or jig pattern, I just like them.

If it's not inappropriate to say so here, I walked out with all 4 for $120.00, seemed fair to me.

Maybe I should go back for some of the others? (a Canoe was nice, and I think there was a 4-blade Whittler there as well.) Maybe I'll see what's still there after Christmas.

The slipjoint collection is starting to flesh out a bit....

I did also leave with some tactical backup, picked up a pair of earrings for the wife's stocking. (luv ya, honey!) Merry Christmas! :D

I have never seen that tang stamp before so I cant tell you how old it is, but I would be estatic to pay 120 for that lot, in my opinion you got a great deal.

I bought my first two case at a hardware store that was going out of business so I can't speak to the pricing but seems like a nice lot.

HI AKC -

Nice! Good idea on the backup earrings too!

best regards -

Torched second cut (SC) bone. They only used the roman numerals for 2-3 years in the early 1990s.
Good find; for $30 I would get back in there and grab the other two....

Even though I don't care for lighter bone looks like a dern good score to me, and you've got a start on collecting DL Trappers too:thumbup:!

I think you got a great deal. I really like the burnt handles. Plus they're Case to boot!

PS-When I saw the title...I slipped again, I was hoping it wasn't a cut finger!!

Trappers aren't my favorite profile, but I really like the shape of the blades on the SC6240! :)

Hey guys, thanks for the views and replies!

OK, you all knew this was coming.... I got a little extra Christmas cash, so I.... Went back to the pawnshop!

The guys were in a jolly mood, made me an offer I couldn't refuse;

What is a guy supposed to do? I'm only human.

Plus, they threw in the display case, all for $150.00.

With the other four, it make for a rather impressive display, I'm stoked!

So here's the whole family together again,

That is awesome! so for under $300 you got all that? you scored big IMO...very impressive!

I saw some of these at an old hardware store in an old small town, just yesterday. You got a great deal!, as these were marked much higher. They are really gorgeous in person too. The old display said, burnt oatmeal.

Thanks guys, I feel fortunate to have walked in when I did, and was able to act on it. I have a feeling they wouldn't have lasted long.

This slipjoint thing will be dangerous....

The wife loved the earrings, by the way. She also likes the whole display of knives. ;)
