Oh crap, I feel so stupid... I was trying different drawing positions from the belt but I as I am a leftie, I tried to mount the sheath on my left side without changing the G-Clip... Needless to day, it was a very unnatural position to draw a knife, so I as held the sheath with right hand, I tried to draw it with the my other hand with that mean razor edge facing the palm of my right hand... BANG!

The cut was so deep and clean that blood didn't even flow! Only under water I was able to see the damage... Now I made some improvised "ghetto" patch on the wound and poured some antiseptic stuff on it. I don't think I need to get it stiched, but what do I know... Does anybody think I should go see a doctor or something? My last cut (from a Busse NMFBM) on a finger I had to take antibiotics for a week just to be safe, but from the size of the blade, you can imagine the kind of damage. But at least on that episode I had an excuse: I drunk as an Irish sailor. LOL :D

One thing I can tell you: you would not want to be on the wrong side of someone employing a Street Beat as an attack/defensive tool. Fred Perrin know his shit....

Cheers!

For those who are new to Spyderco, this is an overview of this sick little fixed blade:

being a little more serious, hows it look now ? be careful. infection aint no fun.
It seems ok. Pain is gone and there is no sign of bleeding at all. The cut was so precise that wasn't hard to control the mild bleeding... It was very clean and easy to deal with. Luckily this are of the hand is not very irrigated by lots of veins. It is mostly thick skin tissue and fat.
I think I might replace this bandage tomorrow with one or two band-aids and I'll be fine. Thanks for asking!

Cheers.

With really clean cuts I use superglue to seal them up, but it sounds like you have it under control so just remember to disinfect it & change the bandage regularly and just keep an eye on it. :)

The streetbeat is a fantastic all round knife with a really awesome sweet spot when it comes to the grip.

Keep a close eye on the cut. I would not recommend superglue, turpentine or duct tape. Clean the wound with antiseptic (as you have been doing) and try and keep the hand as immobile as possible. If you feel shooting pains, then there may be nerve damage and you may want to see a doctor.

Be careful and don't forget to post pics. :D

BTW, did you make that video?
No, I didn't. My Street Beat is the latest version, its sheath comes with a G-Clip instead of the tek-lock clip. By the way, the blade locks into the kydex sheath like a vault, there is no play at all

There's an unwritten rule on the Blade Forums: Any tales of gore and blood must be accompanied by photos.

This thread makes me laugh>> not at you "OF" but at myself. Because a little over 3 years ago I had a similar incident with my ZDP-189 Caly Jr that I was carrying everyday at the time. I was using it during a job I was doing and I slipped and literally sliced my finger almost down to the bone. It happened so fast that I didn't even realize how I had done it at the time. I was bleeding like a mental patient who had just slashed their wrist .

At that time I was working for a retired surgeon who immediately knew what to do to get the bleeding stopped>> not to mention save me the horrific cost of an emergency room bill. The next day he wanted to look at the wound so I removed the bandages and he was blown away. He said that the wound looked very similar to using one of his surgical scalpels :D ( that's how sharp that ZDP-189 can get )

Albeit the wound healed very fast even though it was painful as hell for about 2 to 3 days. The retired surgeon ( my boss at the time) said because of the extremely sharp and clean cut is the main reason it healed so fast.

Bottom Line: These ain't toys were playing with boys & girls :o They are very serious tools and should be handled with the utmost of caution. It's no darn fun when you seriously whack yourself with a wickedly sharp blade. And under serious circumstances it could be life threatening. Be Careful!!
