I've been collecting knives for about 20 years now. I've gone through the natutal progression of productions and high-ends and limited editons and so forth. About two years ago I made the trasgression to handmade's and custom's. Since then I have learned a lot. There's good guy's and well, just "guys". Darrel Ralph, in my opinion is a "good guy". Through TNK I bought a Mad Maxx II to be delivered in November at the NYC show. At the same time I purchased a five year old small Apogee Talonite on a used forum. Within two to three weeks from the purchase date, was not only my Apogee (at no cost) and my MMII deliveried to me, but both were personall worked on by Darrel. The Mad MaxII included special file work as well. As for the Apogee, Darrel worked in a new washer and made the lockup on this framelock "Mayolike". Darrel really did a great job with my knives and hat's off to him! The man has class.

I'm witcha on all counts. That looks like a beauty. Any better views? :)

Here's some more pics of the filework. I'm really impressed by this knife! Workmanship and attention to detail is amazing.

Ditto on Darrel Ralph being a quality guy among quality guys; I made the mistake about 4 months ago of buying a used knife from a guy who bought it from a dealer who I later found had a bad reputation, the dealer had taken apart this Darrel Ralph AXD and that's another whole long story, but I got this thing and several major areas of the knife were screwed up, lockup too slight, blade off center, torx screws buggered up, Darrel FIXED everything that was wrong with the knife even though it had been through a bunch of goons.

I arranged for the knife to be made right in the process of returning it to the guy who sold it to me, so in the end he didn't get burned on it either, even though the fault was the "shop" he'd bought it from, they goofed up the knife.

Darrel fixed it up, he even returned my call just based on caller ID as I was hesitant to even leave a message about it when I called his number and it went to voice mail. He called me back, heard the story, and said "I make things right on my knives".

That's a notch even above "great skill". That's a great guy.
