Here is a picture of two Darrel Ralph/Koval 605 kit knives that my wife and I finished.
We sanded the blades, bolsters, clips, and the insides of the liners down to 1500 grit and then polished on a buffer with white rouge. The scales on the top knife were made from impala jig bone slabs from Koval. The scales on the bottom knife were made from black buffalo horn slabs that we picked up at ABS last year. My wife scrimshawed the Tiger face using white artist's oil paint to color the scrim. We're planning to have the "eye" screws gold plated at next opportunity.
The kits were very easy to build. No fitting, except the scales, was necessary. The action of these knives is very slick. I used a small Delta belt/disk sander to shape the scales, but it could have been done with files or a Dremel tool. I recommend these kits to anyone. Thirty bucks for the kit, a few dollars more for scale material, and a few hours work result in a very nice folder.
