Has anyone esle heard about this? I heard this at Blade. I checked with Darrel. All he would say is that he is very busy but orders are being filled. Rather cryptic. The person who told me is very certain of they heard. That person also mentioned something about Darrel might be getting out of making knives all together. They said that was a less certain.

Has anyone heard anything thay can confirm or prove false this rumor?

Thanks!

This person ... that person ..... right ....
He's booked up for a good year in advance ..... I really doubt it ....

Anyway, I'm sure glad I bought my black Gunhammer MGT w/carbon fiber insert and tritium insets a while ago.
Trouble is that piece is so gorgeous....ya' don't want to get it dirty....

Well, I currently don't have permission to use any names. Sorry. That is one of the down sides of rumors. Since I didn't get a direct answer from Darrel, I thought I would ask and see what might be out there.

I know it isn't uncommon for makers to stop taking orders when they get a deep back log. If this is the case, I just wish he would say something.

i just talked with darrel, he suggested sending him an email or contact a dealer who sells his knives if you want one. he is very busy making knives for his dealers but will still take orders.

OK, I spoke to Darrel for a while this evening. Bottom line, everything is groovy!:D No changes. Here is what is going on.

He is VERY busy and back logged with orders but, he is still taking orders and delivering. No problems. He is putting a lot of time into not only Darrel Ralph Designs but MaxxQ knives, his new production company. He said he is very focused on getting the best engineered, best quality, best looking knife out for MaxxQ as well as his own custom designs. He said this is very time consuming and challenging. He feels this new challenge has really ramped up his energy and focus and he is very excited about what is just down the road.

As is the case with many rumors, no matter how solid the source, they are often based on information that is taken out of context. Darrel said that he was brainstorming on ways to get caught up and have some more time to work on MaxxQ. It was one of many ideas that was ultimately dismissed. He said it came down just doing what needed done.

So, my apologies to Darrel if this caused any inconvenience. Also, my thanks and apologies to everyone here. Didn't meant to stir things up. I was just concerned.

It must be remembered that Custom Orders and orders for your standard line are two different things as well. I do not have time of wild customs these days. Not with an 8 year back log. I am more than sure that DR in in the same boat. But even more so. Mike Lovett
