Anybody Checked out his Gemeni bali...
it sounds good... Ti handles.. Damascus blade...
and from the pics... its a very beautiful weapon...
I'd love to get my hands on one... (haha, no money... thats a problem)
I just thought I'd express my feelings on the knife...
the only problem i have with it is that it has a manila latch (i think thats what its called.. where the latch is on the safe handle..)
i don't know if that would get along too well with my fingers... hahaha
other than that i think its beautiful..
I love the rough look it has.. esp. at the butt of the handles where it has like the gold in it... it looks like raw stone or something..
I love it...
:D
thanks for listenin to my expressive, explosion of feelings.... hahaha

I agree, the Gemini is a very beautiful balisong. I ordered mine last year, and will be done this Fall. Damascus blade, pearl inlays, titanium handles, adjustabe pivots, =)~~~~~ (drooling....)

By the way, if you are interested, the regular gemini is not that expensive though. I think it's about $300 - $400. (No damascus blade, no inlays).

Thanks,
Joe

Bladeswinger,

As a matter of fact, Benchmade has released the BM-43 (bowie style blade). I just gor mine 3 days ago, very beautiful design. But I don't like the blade material though, 440 C. Prefer carbon steel blade.

Here's a link where you can get it : http://www.jtknives.com/

They also have the BM-43 with back handle :)

Good luck,
Joe

Actually, that is the bowie clip point on Chucks site he said the bowie blade is going to be about 4-6 weeks, may want to go back a page or 2 or maybe ahead a couple of pages it states that on there. But if I'm mistaken, my apology.

I was quoted a price of $600.00 with a non-refundable deposit of 50% to be paid in advance. (Which is why I did not go for it, make up any excuse ya like, my money is mine if something happens and I need it, ha! 50% of $600.00 is a bit steep for a non-refundable deposit on the materials involved in the base model.)

I don't think there will be a regular bowie balisong from BM. Only the BM43, which is a Cullver clip point bowie. I ordered a BM43BLK 2 days ago! Might arrive today! :)

Hi NX:) :) Pete Johnston from So California. Yes Darrel's Balis are really nicely done. I do have two of them...a "Proto" and one "on the way" with damascus blade, damascus handles, and MOP inlays <ya gotta have one pimp-style Bali right> :) The Manila latch can easily be alterd by just using a small drift-punch to knock the sleeve out of the handle and switch it around. If you email Darrel at his site he'll give you full detail on how to do it..., but if you have a good vice (with soft jaws), a drift punch or blunted finish nail, and a soft mallet for replacing the sleeve on the Batangas side, it's pretty easy. Or of course you can just order one from Darrel in that latch configuration. Very nice pieces, but they do get pricey with custom detailing add-ons...., like any fine knife I suppose? Take care!!

I think its been a little over a month ago that I got mine. Gollnick was stating that it would be four to six weeks after blade show when we would be able to purchase the BM43. Here's mine.

The four to six weeks was at the time of Bladeshow. As I recall, they hit stores about five weeks after Bladeshow. Would I lie to you?

As for Gemini, the edition is sold out. However, a few pieces were sold to stock at The Edge Equipment. Now, when I say "sold to stock," I do not mean that they are in-stock for delivery. I mean that The Edge Equipment agreed to buy them, selected options for them, paid the deposits on them, etc., without a specific customer. Basically, Kevin has every confidence that he will find a buyer for those knives.

I know that he's already sold one or two of them. When I say that he's sold them, I don't mean that the knife has been completed and delivered. Basically, he's sold that place in line. I do know that I've refered probably a dozen people to The Edge Equipment to get one of those places in line. So, I don't know if Kevin even has any of those left. But, those few pieces are your hope to get in the Gemini project right now if you haven't already placed your order. Of course, you don't get to pick your own options.

The other hope you have is that someone will not make the final payment and accept delivery of his Gemini in which case that piece will be available. But, that's a long-shot, IMHO. I know I'll be making that last payment on my Gemini order.

Now, if you do have a Gemini on order, keep in mind two things that I have said from day one:

First, it could be a long wait. Mr. Ralph is a very busy maker and there are always delays in getting materials. Just realize that you might have to wait a while. That is the nature of custom knives.

Second, orders will NOT be completed and shipped in any specific order either by serial number or i the order in which they were received. Order delivery will be determined by the complexity of each order, material availability, and by, quite frankly, Mr. Ralph's muse.

Patience, my friends. Remember, we're all in this together.

I wish I could afford a place in that line...
Thanks Chuck for pointin me in the right direction... its just a trail that I'm not equipped to travel..
I have no money... hahaha... its sad... I know... but its my life :)
one day though, I plan to become a collector... not until after college though
for now, I'm destined to window shop and drool... hahaha
