Hey everyone. Just wondering what you think of the Camillus Darrel Ralph EDC with 420H steel. Should I wait for the 154CM? I like the price of the current model. Thanks.

I would wait for the 154CM version, 420H is age hardened cheese. I know they are trying to meet a price point, but it seems a waste of a good design.

Personally, I'm getting a 154CM model, which just so happens to be exclusive to 1SKS. At the price, you really can't ask for much more.

FYI to those who have already preordered - we're expecting them to arrive in April; I don't know if it's going to be mid or late.

For those who haven't ordered, we are getting a few hundred pieces so there are still plenty for you guys to snap up. I just finished adding them to 1SKS, so you can order directly from the homepage - http://www.onestopknifeshop.com

As always, thanks for your support!

I'll be getting one in 420H and one in 154. It is a great design. I will have 6 of Darrel's handmades by the Blade Show. I can get the cheaper ones for the dirtier nastier chores I don't want to subject the customs to. I can leave them in the car for emergency or I can use them as a bench knife. If I lose one, I won't be kicking myself.

How I see it, it gets a newbie into a great design without a huge ding to pocket. Once they find out what a great design it is, they'll contact Darrel and get the Real Deal to their specs.

Thanks for the responses guys. Has anyone used the 420H model and if so how does it stack up the the Aus 6 that CRKT uses. I like the Aus 6 even though it isn't very high performance, it gets the job done for me.

bass,
Nobody has used a CAMILLUS/CUDA EDC in 420HC yet, because whe haven't shipped any yet....but we are geting close! The performance of our heat treated 420HC can be witnessed in other products we make,..for instance Darrel's ARCLITE neck knife features the same steel. AUS 6 and 420HC are very similar steels, but the secret is always in the heat treatment and edge geometry!

I am getting two of the 154CM model knives! They will by my first Callimus blades and only D R blades. One will be a keeper the other a user.

They look GREAT! Very sheeple friendly.

Thanks Will for giving us a model in REAL steel and not 'age hardened cheese!' LOL! I like that description.
