Next week I'll be sending $500 from personal account to the kamis to help them get through Dasein (two weeks no work) and to insure they will have enough money to buy a couple of chickens or small goat for the festivities. If anybody wants to toss in a few bucks for them send it on and I'll make sure it gets to them.

Certainly not a requirement but some of the good guys get irate when I don't alert them to such opportunities. As my guru wisely advised me once, "you cannot be a giver if you have no takers."

Can we avoid you paying INCOME tax on gifts? Is there a way use PayPal without HI being hit for income?

What Kismet said. Also, is there a specific date that would be like last call to do this? Just started new job,a nd believe I will get paid Friday, gbut not exactly sure, so don't wanna send out payment until I can make sure of timing of pay at new job(hate to miss my rent check or something. :)

Count me in, the boys have been through a lot this past year, they deserve some R&R.

one thing to do which at least should help avoid HI having to pay taxes, is just to send money directly via paypal, without going through the HI shopping site. That is, don't 'buy' an item which is the amount you wish to donate, just go directly to paypal.

We'll probably get stuck with the tax but we'll pay it with no regrets.

If you tell me you're sending something I'll go ahead and get it sent next week. I need to get this done before I leave on R&R Wed. We extend credit for khukuris so why not for kami gifts?

For what it's worth, a donation sans income tax is still better than no donation. Besides, for each dollar you spend, the feds get to send another bullet to the big sandbox over there.

Incoming. Thanks for the opportunity, Uncle.
