Some nice different stuff today. Baby Garuda is kind of appealing. Crescent moon also. Mostly cause I don't have one YET.

I like the looks of that villager chainpuri, and that 12 inch Dui and Adha Chirra! Nice unique ones today, and some are quite the steal, too.

A 24” Kobra for $119!?!?
Unheard of!! But there it is!!

Man, I have been wanting a Tibetan sword for some time. I briefly had one years ago before trading it off to late forum friend DannyInJapan. What a bruiser of a blade. Nimble enough to move, stout enough to force the subject.

I'm going to have to marinate on this one. I can't really swing it financially now, but these don't pop up every day;)

Can you tell me what makes the Officer its own model when you get it?
I think that it's the blade grind (it's just a scandi, no fullers or anything like that), tang type (It looks to me like a rat tail, but could just be a partial tang) and the weight of the blade (I don't really see any over 26-27 oz, unlike say, an Ang khola, which typically tend to reach the high 30's and beyond). Oh, and also the blade and handle geometry. a 17-18 in length blade is pretty typical, and if you again compare it to the Ang khola, the officers angle of attack is more extreme. All of these factors affect the purpose of the blade, and how it handles, which is why it's considered it's own model.

Correction. HI does not use partial tangs, and the rate tail is by far, much more substantial than a standard "rat" tail tang. There is an x-ray of HI's khukuri's somewhere, maybe Steve can help us find it.

Beat you to it! Correction noted, although there do seem to be a few counter-examples. That Bilton and that Hanuman both have what I would consider partial tangs. Nonetheless, it appears that it's safe to assume any non chirua style knife you get has a substantial "rat tail" tang. BTW, it's important to note that the Bilton with the nubby tang isn't meant for chopping, but instead used for slicing dried meat called biltong that is popular in South Africa, so for it's purpose it's more than substantial enough.

Most of the partial tang variations are due to either being an accessory blade of small stature or having a handle that is irregular at the end like those with carved heads.

I stand corrected, I should've explained it more like Jake.

I wouldnt be afraid to put anything HI makes to hard labor!
