3 times in the last hour. What the hell is it?

Alien invasion? Government cover-up? Illuminati conspiracy perhaps... We may never know.

I missed it and I was online. Maybe the server was doing a nightly backup.

I'm a night owl and it happens VERY frequently while I look over Gotham city.......

Fellas you have been very lucky so far in your query not to have landed a soft head. You really don't want to get to get in between the lines of software code IMHO. The English language error code does not come close to telling you anything of value. The error might well have read "there are snakes in this here server dear friends uh huh snakes" or maybe "oops with peanut butter on it" would be as descriptive/ meaningful.

O,
I have no idea what is being said, so I count on you and others with knowledge to guard the Buck forum and keep everyone informed of bad ju-ju. 300bucks

I'm old now and in the wink of an eye will fad from memory to be less than that of a mustard burp. I studied programming during the computer age of punch cards. My great success came with creating random number generating programs for slots & my personal use. I hit several royals with full whacks bet, oh boy! Next time you receive an error code cut/paste to google and read the dribble you get as definition. More fun @ rodeo, let 'er buck!

Happens every night from about 9 to 9:15.

DDOS = Distributed Denial Of Service

Who would do this to BF? 1. who benefits 2. who wants revenge

1. Sellers of fakes, BF fights fakes by naming names and showing photos of said fakes for all of world to see hitting fake sellers in their wallets(notice that Chinese fakes have skedadled from ebay in USA)
2. Banned former members, banned former sellers from ebay (former sellers of fakes in USA and world wide)

I was unable to get on from Friday afternoon until late, late last night.

BF host is taking countermeasures. Maybe you've noticed your browser being swept when you try to enter BF.

A day without BF, that was unpleasant. I suddenly realized how often I check in and how much I enjoy pretty knife pictures and informative commentary.

I did learn that BF has a Facebook page though, which was a good way to communicate what happened and that they were working on the problem(s).

At least I'm not the only one. Started to get the shakes yesterday.

It's a combination of problems, many of which are outside our control. Prior to yesterday's outage we were undergoing a UDP attack that took down our hosts entire network unless they "null routed" our server; cloud flare eliminated that. After that we had to repair damage which was made much more difficult because of obstacles from the hosting company and their attempts to "fix" the attacks.

Comparing our site to others is in many ways apples to oranges. XDA is a developer website, comprised entirely of developer professionals who have no problem hacking up scripts and I'll bet have done so to their version of vB5 (which has been widely criticized for it's problems with large forums). Given those criticisms and the difficulties reverting back to previous versions of vB from 5, I'm reluctant to jump whole hog into a different version that has been called a resource hog by everyone who's used it. If you'll also notice, they have ads everywhere which means tons of revenue coming in for their site, which means a lot more money to throw at problems. In other words, they have a lot of advantages we don't.

I've already had talks with our hosting management about what happened on Thurs / Fri and will be dealing with them on Monday again about the issue, after we've had a chance to detail the problems. In the meantime, we have more stuff that will be going on this evening as we continue to work on issues that have been presented.

Spark has given us some good information.

Perhaps the snafus are getting worked out as I was able to get on after 9 pm last night. DM
