Does anyone know about what date Buck started manufacturing their Vantages without blade centering problem? I want to buy a Pro for a friend whose just getting into knives, but i don't want him to deal with that.
I don't know a time for the supposed fixed. If you have a local shop I would go there and check out a few. Anymore I like to see/handle blades before I buy them. I pay a bit more but saves the headache of sending stuff back if it's not to my liking.
If your friend is just getting into knives I think I would look at the Avid for a bit less. I carry one and like it a lot.
Yea I tried getting him a knife with wooden handles and he hates it. I know the avids are not all wood, but he doesn't like the looks of wooden knives. He liked my zytel and frn handles more.
If the blade doesn't hit the liners, I don't see it as a problem.
I have one such and it functions perfectly. Locks up solid, and the steel is to die for.
If the blade does hit the liners, Buck will fix it.
I bought one recently, the knife in the case had a late lock-up and was off centre. I asked to see another and it was dead centre with a perfect early lock-up. Great knife, I have really enjoyed carrying it and using it.
+1 on going to check out knives at the local shop. You get to see what you are buying and support local merchants.
