Date code clarification?

I've come across charts online with conflicting info on Buck tang stamps, specifically with regard to the codes for the years 2007 and 2009. One 'camp' says an upwards pointing arrow denotes 2007, and a downward one 2009; the other says just the opposite.

Can anyone tell me which is correct? I have a 379 Solo with a downward-pointing arrow that I could swear I've had for over a year; and that would seem to argue that down = 2007. However, my memory ain't what it used to be.....

For what it's worth, the chart that I have shows the downward pointing arrow as 2007, the upward pointing arrow as 2008 and the right pointing arrow is 2009.

I have a couple of brand new Paclite's and a couple of the Dymondwood 301's that were just introduced this year and they have the right pointing arrow so we know the downward pointing one isn't 2009 as one you looked at says.

I also show 2007 as a down arrow.

I saw a brand-new custom (aftermarket) 110 on e-Bay the other day that had no date symbol at all.....I wonder if some of them remove the date symbol?

How was the tang marked? I have some 111's with no date stamps and here's a 110 Ducks Unlimited with no date stamp.

Here's the tang of one of the 111's. I was told that the stamp wasn't ready when they were made if I remember right. I doubt that anyone could remove a date stamp without leaving obvious signs.

IF memory serves, it was marked just like your D.U. tang.

Memory fails sometimes.......I went back and looked on e-Bay and had no luck, but I'll look again later.

I noticed in my looking that there were a few tangs on aftermarket 110 custom jobs that looked like they had bought up some cheap Founder's Editions and done custom work with them.

Those don't have a date stamp either.

Plumber, Your correct about the date stamp issue . I have a 112 w/o a date stamp . Joe H. told me their not sure how many left the factory that way before the stamp arrived . Could even find some 500's w/o a date stamp . DM
