Hello all!

I was given a Buck 501 in a black Buck leather sheath from a friend whose husband died.

This is the first Buck knife I've ever owned. It's pretty dull now, but I'll be sharpening it back to a usable edge soon.

Looking online I see that Buck uses symbols to denote the year of manufacture. This tang only has:

BUCK
501
USA

written in block letters on it.

Is this perhaps a knockoff of a real Buck 501?

Any help is appreciated!

Aha!

Okay, thank you!

So if I figure out when they stopped using the script letters and switched to block letters, I'll at least have a date range for it.

What's amazing is that this knife doesn't look that old. It must have been used until it was dull and then cleaned and put away.

Very cool!

I appreciate you providing this information.

Thank you!
