Can someone date this marking for me?

Cam_mark.jpg

My guess is that it is in the 1980s time frame, but I'd like to get something more specific. I think this one is in between the CAMILLUS block marking (started in 1976) and before the CamilluS marking (started in 1989) but i wonder if anyone can confirm that and give specific dates of use.

Sorry I missed it first time!
Definately pre 1989, but may also be pre 1976.
What knife is it?

More pics might help, but that knife only changed a little over the years.

O.k., here's a picture of the whole knife:

Note that it has only one rivit showing. I'm pretty sure that dates it to after the early 1970s.

Agreed!
The handles are held on with studs going through the liners.
Your first guess of 76-89 is probably right.

Different.
The plastic handles were molded with protrusions (studs) on the lining side.
They were attached by those studs passing through holes in the lining, and then the studs were "headed" by means of an orbital riveter on the other side of the lining.

To my knowledge, Swindon Construction was only ever employed by Schrade, and related to using assembly pivot pins that were pre-headed with the blades & springs in place, and were then assembled thru a keyhole in the linings. Consequently there was no bolster pin ever visable thru the bolsters.

Dave Swindon was the smartest knife factory engineer I ever met, & is still making knives at Canal Street!!

Yes, and he stuck around at ISC even after he officially retired, making prototypes and doing design work. Can't remember just when he "retired" and became a consultant (still maintained an office at the Ellenville factory), but it was after the deaths of the Baers and before things slid so far downhill.
