Hello all,

Just a quick question witch i think i already know the answer to. So I had a CRK Zaan with a12 stamped to the scale, But the B-Day card had a Date of April, 2013. Is it possible that the scales were made in 2012 and assembled in April, 2013? If this is a normal occurrence and I have nothing to worry about please let me know, Thanks!!

Completely normal! Rest easy.

Here's the strangest one I have. One of my most ornate small 21s:

It was made on April 30th, 2012. Its scales, however, were made B10 and B09. AND .... the blade is S30V (the switch to S35VN was made well before April 2012)! Still, all is good and I certainly don't mind her being made with parts from a different time!

The only problem is if you find the scale dates is after the birthdate. Some quantum time shift in that case.

Nothing to worry about. The dates are off often. The date on the scales was when they were made. The date on the BD card is when the whole knife was completed. I have scales a year or two off and was bought new from a dealer, so no biggie. Nearly all my sebenzas are the older regular style sebenza, so this is not confined to just the 21.

Serious bad JUJU send me the knife and you'll feel better……...

^^^lol

The knife was sold to another Forum member here, before me starting this thread. He was worried that i had given him the wrong Birth Day card. Witch i new was not possible do to the fact that was my 1 and only ever Zaan, and i had purchased it New from a reputable dealer. I pretty much already new the facts but just wanted him to see this Thread, and that he has nothing to worry about.

Wow, thanks for posting this, I knew the reasoning and wasn't concerned but hearing some of you guy's date codes vs BDC's (~18 months) made me feel mine's mere 6 month difference is nothing.
