Does anyone know of a company other than Microtech that stamps the date of production on the knife? I think it's a very cool feature and adds a lot of personality and collectability to a knife, but I just can't bring myself to pick up a Microtech for these reasons alone. Also if anyone has experience with Microtechs, please share! I might be convinced to buy one yet.

CRK stamps the year and quarter on the inside slabs of the Sebenzas

My Kershaw Chive has the month and year near the lanyard hole. I have no idea whether they're still doing this.
Buck has a code they stamp to represent the date.

They've used different ones to represent different years. On the one I have, there's an odd symbol next to the model number. Lots of reviewers on youtube seemed to think it was a letter--don't remember for sure what letter they thought, though at first glance it could be mistaken for a "D". It's actually the code for 2012, according to this page on the Buck website:

For traditional....Great Eastern Cutlery

And starting this year Emerson Knives has stopped dating with the year .

SanRenMu etch the month on the blade as well as a right angle triangle depending on where the right angle is, left, right, up or down gives the date in a four year cycle.

So that was made in November of 2013, if I remember them rightly. No clue what they do when the four corners are used but four years is a long time in SRM model history, they tend to upgrade or change the colours or whatever changes they like. :)

BUCK date codes:

The symbols stamped onto your blade indicate which year your knife was made. Please refer to this chart to find out the age of your knife.

Buck Date Code Stamp Chart110 & 112 Models:

1974-1980
One dot on each side of model number

1980-1981
One dot on left side, two dots on right side

1981-1986
Two dots on each side

*2002

The anvil was used instead of model numbers (on all knives) this year only.

Customs still use the anvil mark.
