What were the actual dates when the 2-dot 110s were made? In LG4 it says that the 2-dots were started in 1978. Today I got to look at my old 110 that I had given to my son some time ago. I noticed that it is a 2-dot model; however, I purchased it in 1976. Was Bernard off in his date?

Sometimes Buck will make a change before they officially announce it. And there may be overlapping dates on changes as well. Edge 2000 is a good example. Announced for the 2000 sales year, it was being used since early 1999. There are several of the Buckites who really know the history of the 110, I hope this helps until then.

Buck actually added one dot to either side of the 110 in 1974 to indicate that the knife was redesigned into a "non gravity" knife. The third dot was added in 1980.
The date you remember sounds correct for a two dot.
Hope this helps,

How about the 422 Bucklite ?, I have one with one dot, which if I remember correctly I got sometime in the early 80´s. My 112 which I got in the mid 70´s didn´t have any dots, didn´t have a nail nick either, the grind wasn´t as hollow as those I´ve seen later including the 422.

Great questions! Lets see if I can answer them without being corrected by one of our knowledgeable regulars. :D
The 112/110 are the same in reference to the dots. The first 112's did not have a nail nick. In fact, we only added it because our sales guy at the time was convinced that if we added a nail nick, sales on the 112 would increase tremendously. We added the nick and sales stayed the same. :) Great, but the same.
The 422 with one dot does not have anything at all to do the with 112/110 dots sequence. Right now I am still researching but I believe the one dot on your 422 refers to the change from a conventionally blanked part to a fineblanked part in about 1985. I'm still a little unclear on this one though so don't quote me.
I hope this helps,
