Good day Everyone,

I have used the Buck tang chart but im unclear on if the knife doesn't have any of the symbols? Like if it just says Buck then the model number the the U.S.A.? would that be older than the early 80s or whenever they started using the symbols?
thanks in advance.

A three line with no symbols puts a knife from 1973-1986 give or take a year. If it is a 110 or 112 then it is a bit different.

Mercy,

Are you trying to date a certain model, knives from a certain series such as the 100, 300, 500 or 700 series? Often, putting a date on o knife depends on things other than the tang stamp, and these characteristics may vary from one series to another.

Bert, Yes Sir, im trying to date a 305 Lancer I was wanting too buy on the Auction site. Its pretty nice and was wanting to narrow down the approx. age. Thanks for your reply.

Long finger groove on main blade or small finger nic ? If long finger groove earlier than late 1985 likely made by Camillus, if small nail nic then a Buck made 305 from right at end of 1985 before they instituted date codes in 1986. 300
